Christmas Dinner with the missionaries

So, here's some background leading up to Christmas dinner. My parent's were going out of town for Christmas (the first time ever), so I decided to invite my brothers & sister to come over to our teeny tiny home and have Christmas dinner with us. Prior to this, we had decided to make a traditional Hawaiian meal for Elder Lino (Elder Burner too) and grabbed 4 pork shoulders to cook in a pit. We dug the pit, rounded up everything else we needed and woke up 4:30am Christmas morning to start the fire. We got everything going, put the meat in the pit, put the wet burlap & tarp over and waited. And...it started to rain, a lot. We had a pork emergency, and if it weren't for our buddy, the meat surgeon, all of it would have been ruined. But he saved our butts, pork butts that is, and all was well. We had roughly 25 people for dinner, and still had to send the majority of the meat home. The picture above of the pulled pork, yeah, we had 1 1/2 more of those left over. It was completely chaotic, the rain almost ruined our pit, but we pulled it off and I don't know that we'll ever do it again. It was an experience, fo sho.
